Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has announced that the construction of its project to develop a bauxite mine and associated export facilities in the Republic of Guinea has been completed by 50%.
With over 4,000 nationals work on the project and a total budget of around $1.4 billion, the first bauxite exports are expected to be produced in the second six month of 2019, according to a company statement.
The Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC) project is planned to produce 12 million tonnes of bauxite annually and employ 1,000 contractors.
Earlier in June, EGA announced receiving the first shipment of bauxite ore from Guinea, which will be used in the construction of the company’s Al Taweelah alumina refinery.
GAC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of EGA.
