Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Abu Dhabi-based Emirates Steel will start operating its joint project together with both Masdar and Adnoc as of April, said the company’s Chief Commercial Officer Ahmed Al Dhaheri.
On the sideline of the fourth Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Al Dhaheri added that the steel producer completed 90 of the project till now; however, he declined to reveal details of the project’s value.
The project is expected to compress and transfer carbon dioxide gas (CO2) to be used for oil extraction from onshore fields in Abu Dhabi, as well as storing 730,000 metric tonnes of the gas.
Al Dhaheri said that the company saw 8% growth in its sales to reach 3 million tons of steel in 2014.
