Dubai – Mubasher: Emirates Airline has apologised for forcing a 17-year-old epileptic boy and his family to leave one of its planes.
The boy’s mother Isabelle Kumar, a journalist Euronews, stated that she called the airline before her family journey to France to make sure that the UAE carrier can meet their needs and asked to book a seat next to her boy’s.
But before the plane taking off, the flight attendant asked the family to provide a medical certificate for the boy and that it must be handed to a ground staff to check it before boarding, according to The Guardian newspaper.
The family was forced to leave the aircraft after the flight attendant threatened to call the police.
“Thanks Emirates for removing our family from your flight. Our son has epilepsy: we had told you, just come 14 hours from Melbourne, got his doctor on the phone and medical clearance while still on board,” the mother posted on Twitter.
The Emirati airline posted an apologetic tweet on Wednesday.
“Emirates is very sorry for any distress and inconvenience caused to you and your family today. We want to assure you that our priority has been to find a solution for getting you to your destination. One of our colleagues has reached out to you with new travel arrangements.”
