Emirates inks codeshare deal with Indian SpiceJet

UAE – Mubasher: Emirates revealed that it has signed a codeshare agreement with Indian carrier SpiceJet, the Dubai-based airline said in a statement.

Accordingly, new routes and destinations will be opened before passengers travelling between India and popular destinations across Africa, America, Europe and the Middle East, Emirates, the world's largest airline by international passengers, added.

The newly signed deal will enable Emirates’ passengers to enjoy seamless connectivity on flights to India, leveraging SpiceJet’s strong domestic presence and adding six new destinations: Amritsar, Jaipur, Pune, Mangalore, Madurai and Calicut, the statement said.

For Emirates, the codeshare with SpiceJet will provide it with an additional 67 weekly connections between Dubai and six of what it described as “fast-growing destinations in India.”

The UAE's carrier noted that the deal is still subject to necessary government approvals.
