Dubai – Mubasher: Emirates airlines on Wednesday announced lifting the electronics ban for Emirates’ flights travelling from Dubai International Airport to the US.
“Emirates has been working hard in coordination with various aviation stakeholders and the local authorities to implement heightened security measures and protocols that meet the requirements of the US Department of Homeland Security’s new security guidelines for all US-bound flights,” a spokesperson for the airline said in a statement.
On Tuesday, the US lifted its ban on laptops on flights travelling from Abu Dhabi to the US.
Etihad Airways, which operates direct flights from the UAE capital to the US, was cleared to allow electronics on board its flights after placing the required tighter security measures.
Any disruption or inconvenience that might affect passengers from the new measures will be "very minimal", Abdul Majeed Al-Khoori, acting CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, told Reuters on Monday, adding that the processing time for passengers travelling to the US will remain unchanged.
The laptop and electronics ban began in April after US President Donald Trump launched the ban. Since then, several airlines have reduced the number of flights heading to the US, while travellers have been struggling with the ban.
