Dubai – Mubasher: Emirates has announced that it will acquire the additional 16 Airbus A380 jets.
In January, Emirates Airline signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus to acquire up to 36 A380 jets including a confirmed order for 20 planes, along with an option for 16 further.
“We will exercise them sooner rather than later,” Emirates’ President Tim Clark said, according to Reuters.
“Emirates is still evaluating which engines it will use to power its new A380s, which are due to be delivered from 2020,” Clark added.
The state-owned carrier suffers a shortage of pilots, which forced it to reduce the frequency of some routes to Florida in the United States, the top official revealed.
This shortage is just a short-term issue, as the company is training 170 pilots, Clark noted, as the international news agency reported.
