Emirates partners with Ghana’s Africa World Airlines

UAE- Mubasher: Emirates on Thursday announced that it has signed a partnership with Accra-headquartered Africa World Airlines (AWA), according to Emirates’ statement.

Both carriers have inked a one-way interline agreement whereby Emirates customers can connect onto selected routes of the Ghanaian airline’s network.

The agreement, set to be effective as of May 2019, opens up new African destinations for Emirates customers, Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, said.

“The agreement between Emirates and Africa World Airlines underpins our commitment to provide greater connectivity across West Africa. This partnership will allow us to further extend West Africa via the selected domestic and regional routes of Africa World Airlines,” Orhan Abbas, Emirates senior vice president, Commercial Operations in Africa, commented.

Under the deal, passengers on Emirates’ network can now benefit from greater connectivity to West Africa, especially those travelling from popular inbound markets such as Dubai, China, India and Australia.

Started operations in 2012, AWA now operates a fleet of 8 all-jet aircraft across 8 destinations throughout Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia and Sierra Leone, with services to Cote D’Ivoire planned to commence in May 2019.
