In January, The Dubai government-owned carrier inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus to buy up to 36 A380 aircraft.

“Some of the new A380s we’ve just ordered will be used as fleet replacements. This order will provide stability to the A380 production line,” said Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates’ chairman.

Airbus’ orders reached 68 jets in the first quarter of 2018, 20 of which were ordered by Emirates while the remainder were ordered by other carriers.
