UAE - Mubasher: Emirates airline was granted AED 7.3 billion ($2 billion) from the Dubai government, as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has hit the airline's financial position, Reuters reported.
This announcement was made in a prospectus for potential bond issuance by the Dubai government.
The state-owned airline received the cash support after Dubai's crown prince had promised to inject equity into the company in March to manage its businesses through the COVID-19 crisis.
It is noteworthy to mention that last week, Emirates has asked its crew to take an unpaid vacation between one and three months from September to November after giving its pilots four-month unpaid leave in July, alongwith its decision to cut more jobs.
