Dubai-Mubasher: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) signed a five-year contract worth AED 1.8 billion with Nakheel to provide district cooling services, according to a statement.
The cooling services provider will build six cooling plants in Jumeirah Village Circle and Jumeirah Village Triangle, to provide 260,000 refrigeration tons (RT) for the 400 buildings.
Empower will produce 30,000 RT by the fourth quarter of 2016, the statement said, adding that the project is divided into several phases.
“Over the past few years, we saw a dramatic expansion that made us the largest global provider in terms of capacity,” Empower’s CEO Ahmad Bin Shafar said, adding that “the next stage will see several partnerships and agreements in response to the wide demand for district cooling services.”
