UAE – Mubasher: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, announced that construction work of its new plant at Jumeirah Village is now 80% complete.
The first phase of the plant set to be operational by the end of 2019, according to a press release.
Once completed, the plant, which is the world’s first unmanned and fully-automated district cooling plant, will have a total capacity of 50,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT).
The plant will monitor and adjust inflow and outflow of the chilled water through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and thermal energy storage (TES) technologies.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “The new cooling plant will be connected to Empower’s state-of-the-art Command Control Centre (CCC), which is using the Advanced SCADA system with the capacity to read 2 million data per minute related to cooling towers, chillers, transformers, water supply etc. The continuation of constructing the district cooling pipeline network in Jumeirah Village area is also progressing in parallel with the construction of the new plant.”
In August, Empower said it had awarded contracts worth a combined AED 33 million for the expansion of its district cooling pipe network at Dubai Studio City.
