Cairo – Mubasher: Renewable energy firm Empower plans to inaugurate a new wastewater-to-energy plant in the Egyptian governorate of Kafr El-Sheikh in September, the company’s chairman Hatem El-Gamal said.
With investments of EGP 84 million, the under-construction plant have a planned capacity of 1 megawatt (MW), El-Gamal told Mubasher.
Empower was in talks with local banks to finance 70% of the costs of the plant, he noted.
Previously, Kafr El-Sheikh's first wastewater-to-energy plant with a capacity of 18 MW per day was inaugurated by Empower.
The top banks financing Empower’s projects include the National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, Bank of Alexandria, and Banque Du Caire, El-Gamal revealed.
Empower’s investments in its five waste-to-energy plants reached EGP 420 million, he added.
