Energy, telecoms push ADX up at Monday’s close

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Monday’s trading session in the green, backed by the rise of the energy and telecommunications sectors.

The general index grew 0.17% or 7.98 points to close at 4,578.22 points. Turnover increased to AED 368.36 million from AED 226.836 million on Sunday, whereas traded volume nearly halved to 71.53 million shares traded against 139.92 million shares in the previous session.

The industrial sector led risers, adding 1.6% after Julphar surged 6.3%, while the energy sector increased 1.28% after Dana Gas grew 2.4%.

The telecom sector and its stock Etisalat were both up 0.85%, while the real estate sector added 0.39%, backed by Eshraq and Aldar, which gained 0.92% and 0.46%, respectively.

On the other hand, the banks sector was the only decliner, losing 0.28%, pressured by First Abu Dhabi Bank, which fell 1.32%, but registered the highest traded value and volume on the ADX, with AED 255.31 million in turnover and 22.39 million shares exchanged.
