Mubasher: The Kuwaiti minister of public works, Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa, said on Monday that energy subsidies in the general budget exceeded 71% of the country’s total subsidy.
Al-Mutawa added that for every dinar spent on energy products the government spends 710 fils in subsidies.
The minister remarks were made in a press conference representing the government’s vision for the future (New Kuwait) and developmental plans until the year 2035.
The total subsidy in the 2016-2017 Kuwaiti budget amounts to KWD 2.9 billion which represents 15% of the total public expenditure.
