Eni: Zohr field's capital spending less than 12bn euros

Cairo-Mubasher: Italy's Eni said on Friday the capital spending of Zohr gas field will be less than 12 billion euros.

CEO Claudio Descalzi said his company, which has been operating in Egypt since 1954, will slash its capital spending on falling oil prices.

In August, the Italian firm started digging the field, which is considered the biggest discovery in Egypt and the Middle East.

The gas field's reserves are estimated at nearly 30 trillion cubic feet of gas.
