Etihad Airways grounds five A330 Freighters; offers pilots unpaid leave

Dubai – Mubasher: Etihad Airways has grounded five A330 Freighters while asking its pilots to take unpaid leave, the carrier and some informed sources told Reuters.

The airline will confine its operations to Boeing 777 Freighter fleet, Etihad revealed, refusing to make any comment regarding offering some of its pilots an unpaid leave, according to Reuters.

“Boeing 777 Freighter is the right aircraft for our long-term requirements,” Peter Baumgartner, Etihad’s operations CEO, stated in an email to the international news agency.

The Abu Dhabi-based company is planning to sell or lease the A330 Freighters, a source noted, as Reuters reported.
