Etihad Airways increases flights to Egypt, Nigeria

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Etihad Airways announced adding year-round flights between Abu Dhabi and both Cairo and Lagos later this year, to meet the sustainable demand from and to the Emirati capital.

On the back of Nigeria’s and Egypt’s emerging economies, the Emirati airline believes that the decision comes at a good to provide customers with more options.

Bilateral trade between the UAE and Egypt reached $400 million in 2016, as Egypt’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to reach 3.5% in 2017 and to rise to 4.5% in 2018.

UAE tourist arrivals to Egypt are expected to increase from 5 million visitors last year to 5.4 million tourists this year and to 6 million in 2018, the Emirati company stated.

Nigeria’s GDP growth rate is expected to more than double from 0.83% in 2017 to 1.9% in 2018 due to the expanding industrial, financial, and IT sectors, the airline added.

By 5 October 2017, a fifth daily scheduled flight will be launched on the Cairo route, raising flight frequency to the Egyptian capital from 28 to 35 flights per week.
