Etisalat, Du lose 132,000 subscribers in 7M

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE’s Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) posted that both Emirates Telecommunications Group (Etisalat) and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co (Du) have lost about 131,800 telecom subscribers during the first seven months of 2017.

Etisalat and Du failed to keep 152,320 mobile phone subscribers in seven months, as the number of subscribers dropped to 19.75 million subscribers at the end of July 2017 from 19.91 subscribers in December 2016, according to data by the TRA.

The data showed that the number of mobile phone subscriptions for each 100 people fell to 226,400 subscriptions at the end of July 2017 from 229,800 subscriptions at the end of 2016.

Bill payment subscriptions amounted to 3.257 million subscriptions at the end of July 2017, the TRA highlighted.

Postpaid subscriptions, which represents the highest number of subscriptions, reached 16.5 million subscriptions, according to Emarat Al Youm newspaper.

Internet subscriptions rose to 18,140 subscriptions at the end of July 2017, compared to the end of 2016, according to data.

The data showed that landline subscriptions increased by 2,794 subscriptions to 2.288 million subscriptions.
