Etisalat Misr to launch landline service

Cairo – Mubasher: Etisalat Misr will launch the virtual landline service in the Egyptian market, CEO Hazem Metwally said.

The CEO has made the first phone call to Cairo office through the service at the company’s headquarter in Dubai, he said in a press conference on the sidelines of GITEX Dubai 2018 held from 14 to 16 October.

The Egyptian subsidiary of the UAE’s Etisalat will commercially launch the service soon to be available for users in Egypt, Metwally pointed out.

The state-run Telecom Egypt will be responsible for launching the new service, he indicated.

He stressed that the Egyptian government is pushing ahead with the financial inclusion which will pave the way for many telecom firms to offer new services to reinforce e-commerce.

In January, Telecom Egypt announced that it reached a final settlement agreement with Etisalat Misr regarding a dispute over international calls services.

As per the agreement, TE would pay $48 million to Etisalat Egypt to alleviate an estimated potential risk of more than $100 million.
