Etisalat’s Q1 profit rises 5%

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Emirates Telecommunication Group Company (Etisalat) reported a 5% year-on-year increase in profits for the first quarter of 2019.

Profits attributable to the owners of the telecom company registered AED 2.21 billion ($600 million) in Q1-19, compared to AED 2.11 billion ($570 million) in Q1-18, according to a statement to the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) on Tuesday.

Earnings per share (EPS) stood at AED 0.01 during the three-month period ended 31 March 2019.

The company’s consolidated revenues stood at AED 12.98 billion in Q1-19, the statement added.

However, net assets of the Abu Dhabi-based firm declined by AED 983 million, recording AED 56.26 billion by the end of March.

It is worth noting that the telecom group’s board approved distributing cash dividends worth 40 fils a share for 2018 to the shareholders registered at the close of business on 31 March. This brought the total dividends to 80 fils per share for the full-year 2018.
