European shares open higher ahead of ECB meeting

Dubai – Mubasher: European stock markets kicked off Thursday on an up note, amid anticipation for the meeting of the European Central Bank (ECB) that will discuss more stimulus steps mainly lowering interest rate for Eurozone deposits and expanding the cumulative easing program.

ECB chief Mario Draghi stressed in November that the bank was prepared to offer more arrangements to help the Eurozone recover.

Germany’s DAX rose by 0.28% to 11,221 points, while France’s CAC added 0.35% to 4,923 points.

UK’s FTSE 100 steadied at 6,421 points, while Italy’s FTSE MBI gained 0.40% to 22,641 points.
