Eurozone economic confidence jumps to 17-yr high

Mubasher: Economic confidence in the Eurozone surged to its highest level in almost 17 years, reflecting an improved outlook for the region, according to Bloomberg.

The index of industry and consumer sentiment rose to 114 points in October from a revised 113.1 points in the prior month, as per the data of the European Commission that released on Monday.

This is the fifth consecutive monthly increase and the strongest level it reached since January 2001.

Sentiment increased across all sectors, according to the European Commission.

Data also showed a forecast for the region’s economy expanded for an 18th quarter in the three months through September.

Unemployment is expected to have fallen to 9% last month, after registering around 12% in 2013.
