Expat remittances fall to SAR 10bn in November – SAMA

Riyadh – Mubasher: Remittances from expatriates in Saudi Arabia retreated 17.6% year-on-year to SAR 9.9 billion ($2.64 billion) in November, from SAR 12.02 billion ($3.20 billion), figures by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) showed on Sunday.

Month-on-month, expats’ remittances levelled down 15.6% from SAR 11.7 billion, SAMA added.

On the other hand, the value of expats’ remittances inched up 0.1%, reaching SAR 103.499 billion in the first eleven months of 2018 against SAR 103.394 billion in the corresponding period of 2017.

 

Saudis’ remittances

The Saudi central bank’s data further indicated that Saudis’ remittances slumped 39.5% to SAR 4.8 billion during November, from SAR 7.8 billion in the same month last year.

At the level of the first eleven months, Saudis’ remittances increased by 2.5% to SAR 45.995 billion, from SAR 44.856 billion in the corresponding period of 2017.
