Riyadh – Mubasher: Foreign remittances of expatriate workers in Saudi Arabia decreased 6.7% to SAR 141.7 billion during 2017, from SAR 151.9 billion a year earlier, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) said in a report.
Expats’ remittances hit SAR 38.3 billion during the fourth quarter of 2017, compared to SAR 38.5 billion in the corresponding period a year earlier.
Remittances stood at SAR 14.04 billion in December 2017, compared to SAR 13.5 billion the year before.
Total amount of Saudi citizens’ remittances reached SAR 65.3 billion in 2017, compared to SAR 59.6 billion the year before, the SAMA added.
Remittances of the Kingdom's citizens increased to SAR 20.4 billion in Q4-17, from SAR 13.97 billion in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.
Saudi citizens’ remittances rose to SAR 6.05 billion during December 2017, from SAR 4.4 billion in the same month a year ago.
