Dubai – Mubasher: Expo 2020 Dubai has awarded two major construction projects worth AED 670 million to UK-based Laing O'Rourke.
As per the agreement, the British construction firm will build the Expo’s Leadership and Media pavilions and the ‘Hammerhead’ access road to the Al Wasl Plaza plus landscaping, the Expo said in a statement.
The company will also be responsible for implementing the mechanical, electrical and plumbing works associated with the projects.
The construction is expected to commence by the end of January to be completed by October 2019.
The 150-metre diametric Al Wasl Plaza represents the centerpiece of the 4.38 square-metre Expo 2020 site.
The Leadership and Media Pavilions will be turned into hotels after the Expo ends as part of the event’s District 2020 legacy development project.
The six-month Expo 2020 Dubai will be held on 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021.
