Expo 2020 Dubai roads pledged $170m contracts from RTA awards

Mubasher: The UAE Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded two contracts valued at $171 million (AED 630 million), for the final road works related to Expo 2020 Dubai, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The authority has awarded both Phase 5 and 6 contracts which are the last ones under the authority's scope to develop roads connecting Expo 2020 Dubai, according to WAM.

WAM added that the two contracts were awarded after Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, issued a directive to accelerate road and transport infrastructure work.

Improvements to Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road and the intersection between Emirates Road and Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road will be undertaken under the final two phases.

Director-general and chairman of RTA's board of executive directors Mattar Al Tayer called the road improvements “one of the big projects currently undertaken by RTA to serve the needs of the Expo 2020 in Dubai.”
