Cairo – Mubasher: The free zones in Egypt have exported commodities and services valued at $4.7 billion in the first quarter of 2019, the Egyptian investment and international cooperation minister said on Wednesday.
The number of projects implemented in the Egyptian free zones has reached 1,094 with capital worth $12.52 billion, Sahar Nasr added in a statement.
These projects were established with an investment cost of around $26.3 billion, in addition to a direct foreign investment of $2.15 billion, which offered 192,000 jobs, the minister noted.
This came on the sidelines of the General Authority For Investment & Free Zones’ (GAFI) board of directors meeting headed by Sahar Nasr.
