Mubasher: Global food prices rose in August to their highest level since May 2015, according to a report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The overall food price index grew from 161.9 points in July to 165.6 points in August, the United Nations food agency said on Thursday.
The increase is due to the rise in the prices of meat, sugar and dairy products.
Food prices on world markets were 7% higher in August than in the same month last year, the report indicated.
