UAE – Mubasher: FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp and the world’s largest express transportation company, announced that its Roxo™, an autonomous delivery device, will make its international debut in Dubai, the UAE.
The same-day delivery bot is designed to deliver smaller shipments to customers safely and is able to travel on sidewalks and along roadsides, according to a press release.
Roxo features advanced technologies including the pedestrian-safe from the iBot, LiDAR, and multiple cameras that enable the zero-emission, battery-powered bot to be aware of its surroundings, FedEx Express highlighted.
The device is also provided with machine-learning algorithms to identify and avoid obstacles and plot a safe path, upon which the bot can follow road and safety rules.
James R. Muhs, regional President for FedEx Express in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa, said: “Roxo™ is currently testing in the U.S. and will play a new role in the last-mile delivery market, one that is not currently addressed by any other automated service or technology. Feedback from customers will ensure that real-use conditions are taken into consideration as early as possible during the on-going development of Roxo’s capabilities”.
Dubai is expected to join test cities in the UAE, including Memphis, Tennessee, Manchester, New Hampshire, and Plano and Frisco, Texas, in the future, the express delivery company noted.

Furthermore, FedEx plans to collaborate with companies in several segments to determine and explore their needs and opportunities in Dubai.
