Cairo – Mubasher: Financial technology services play a major role in shifting to the digital economy, governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), Tarek Amer, said.
Such services contributed 1.6% to gross domestic product (GDP), Amer added during Seamless North Africa conference on Monday.
The National Payments Council has made several achievements including launching e-payment card Meeza, improving mobile payments, automating government services, and issuing a law regulating cashless payment methods, he noted.
