Five firms compete over Al-Maktoum Solar Park phase 3

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said it received five bids from international organisations for the third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, according to managing director and CEO Saeed Mohammed AlTayer.

"The lowest recorded bid at the opening of the envelopes was 2.99 US cents per kilowatt hour," the authority said in a statement, adding that the next step in the bidding process will review the technical and commercial aspects of the bids to select the best of them.

DEWA launched a request for the Expression of Interest (EoI) for the 800 megawatt (MW) third phase of the solar park on 8 September, 2015.

The authority said it received 95 EoI responses from international solar organisations between 8-29 September, 2015.

Total investments in the Solar Park amount to $13.6 billion (AED 50 billion) and aim to produce around 5,000MW by 2030.
