Five governorates to host African Cup of Nations 2019 – Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian authorities on Sunday have said that around five governorates will host the African Cup of Nations 2019, starting from next June, the youth and sports minister Ashraf Sobhi said.

These governorates will be Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Port Said, and Ismailia, Sobhi added during an interview with Extra News channel.

The official further indicated that the stadiums’ infrastructure and sport areas in each governorate are ready to host this large event.

On 13 December 2018, Sobhi stated that Egypt is considering bidding for hosting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

On 16 December last year, Ahmed Megahed, who is a board member in of the Egyptian football association (EFA) said that his nation is qualified to organise the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

On Tuesday, 8 January, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that Egypt will host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

On Wednesday, 9 January, some global and local media sources expected that Egypt’s tourism industry is forecast to recover after news that the country will host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
