Flynas to hire Saudi female co-pilots

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabian budget carrier Flynas has said plans to start appointing Saudi women as co-pilots over the coming period.

Flynas also stated that it will be the first firm in the aviation sector to hire females in important positions, Bloomberg reported.

“The move aims to enable Saudi women to have a greater role in supporting the kingdom’s economy,” the airline’s CEO Bandar Almohanna noted in a statement.

This decision is also part of the kingdom’s efforts to boost women's participation in the economic growth.

On 24 April, the Riyadh-based airline indicated that it started discussions with a group of global banks to finance buying 120 Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Flynas owns 30 jets that fly to 17 Saudi cities, and to 53 international destinations.

Under Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, the oil-rich nation has loosened gender restrictions limiting female participation in the workforce and scrapped a decades-long ban on women driving.
