Foreign buying boosts EGX 2.6% Thursday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session on a positive note, following the collective rise of its sectors, backed by foreign investor buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index gained 2.6% or 311.7 points and closed at 12,310.49 points.

The EGX70 index increased 1.15% to 477.01 points, while the EGX100 and EGX50 grew 1.22% and 2.42% to 1,151.87 and 1,920.9 points.

Turnover reached EGP 1.14 billion after 254 million shares were exchanged.

Market capitalisation grew EGP 11.9 billion to end the session at EGP 603.12 billion.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 105 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 79.08 million and EGP 26 million, respectively.

Pioneers’ stock led risers, surging 9.51%, followed by EFG Hermes, Global Telecom and Orascom Construction with 7.95%, 7.56% and 6.55%, respectively.

The EGX’s heaviest weighted stock Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) gained 2.99% and closed at EGP 74.1.

On the flipside, Eastern Company, Domty and Edita declined 2.26%, 1.48% and 0.58%, respectively.
