Foreign investments in Egyptian debt instruments up to $570m

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian deputy finance minister for fiscal policies, Ahmed Kojak said on Tuesday that foreign investments in treasury bills and bonds totalled $570 million by the end of January.

Kojak also told Mubasher that investments averaged $250 million per month in November and December, after the decision by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) to float the pound and raise interest rates by 300 basis points.

The CBE monthly report showed an increase in foreign investment in Egyptian treasury instruments in November to EGP 7.79 billion compared to EGP 989 million in October.
