Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Transport is currently in talks with France’s RATP Group over managing and operating Cairo Metro Line 3, deputy transport minister Amr Shaath told Alborsa News.
The French company will not intervene in tickets’ pricing and its role will be limited to operate and carry out maintenance of the third line, Shaath noted.
This deal is expected to be signed early 2018 and is likely to be annually renewed, he forecast.
The deputy minister also mentioned that both parties are negotiating over the French group’s share of Cairo Metro Line 3’s revenues.
The ministry is planning to form a committee to set the new prices of Metro tickets in accordance with the railway division system next year, Shaath added, pointing out that the ministry is working on selecting another firm to manage Cairo Metro Line 4.
The Egyptian government will implement an EGP 2.5 million programme to develop railways over the coming two years.
