French Total eyes expanding JV with Aramco – CEO

Riyadh – Mubasher: Total plans to expand its joint venture (JV) refinery with State oil giant Saudi Aramco, CEO of the French oil major Patrick Pouyanne has said.

The next step will include adding chemical and petrochemical units to the refinery’s business in a bid to boost added value products, Pouyanne told Reuters.

France-based Total will invite other companies to take part in the JV's business, the top official noted.

Last week, Total and the Middle Eastern oil giant had signed a deal to expand Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP) in Jubail, in addition to the likelihood of adding a cracker unit.

Saudi Arabian Oil Co owns a 62.5% stake in SATORP, while Total owns the remaining 37.5%share.
