GASC buys 300,000 tonnes of wheat from global markets

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) said Wednesday that it has bought 300,000 tonnes of wheat in a global tender on Tuesday.

The contracted quantities include 180,000 tonnes from Russia, 60,000 tonnes from Romania, and 60,000 from Ukraine, Reuters reported..

The GASC has set a tender on Tuesday to buy an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for shipment from 15 July to 25 July.

Egypt, the largest wheat importer in the world, consumes about 15 million tonnes of wheat yearly, according to official figures.
