Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) said Thursday that it has bought 410,000 tonnes of wheat in a global tender on Wednesday.
The contracted quantities includes 350,000 tonnes from Russia and 60,000 tonnes from Romania, Reuters reported.
The GASC had set a tender on Tuesday to buy an unspecified amount of wheat from global suppliers for shipment in August.
Egypt, the largest wheat importer in the world, consumes about 15 million tonnes of wheat yearly, according to official figures.
