Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) has contracted on Wednesday to buy 525,000 tonnes of wheat in a global tender.
The contracted quantities includes 120,000 tonnes from France, 120,000 tonnes from Romania, 225,000 from Russia, and 60,000 from Ukraine.
Egypt's strategic wheat reserves are sufficient for four months, according to a statement.
Egypt, the largest wheat importer in the world, consumes about 15 million tonnes of wheat yearly, according to official figures.
