GB Auto denies coronavirus’ impact on its operations

Cairo – MubasherGhabbour Auto (GB Auto) has denied any impact on its operations by the coronavirus outbreak, according to a statement released on Thursday.

The company noted that it received a notice from Chinese automaker Chery regarding a delay for a period between 7 and 10 days for models assembled in Egypt.

The coronavirus outbreak has no impact on the Egyptian market, but the situation will remain monitored in the coming period, GB Auto announced.

Earlier in February, Hyundai shut down all of its factories in South Korea after running out of components from China due to disruptions caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

German automakers also announced the temporary closures of their production plants in China on the heels of the outbreak.

Around 28,300 cases have been recorded with the virus, resulting in 565 deaths, while 1,286 patients have recovered.
