GCC CPI adds 4.2% YoY in October

Mubasher: The GCC’s consumer price index (CPI) grew 4.2% year-on-year in October 2018.

Saudi Arabia contributed 2.3 points to the total inflation in the GCC, while the UAE, Oman, and Kuwait contributed 1.7 points, 0.1 points, and 0.1 points, respectively, according to a report released by the GCC’s statistics agency (GCC-STAT) and released on Wednesday.

Both Bahrain and Qatar did not contribute to the region's inflation.

In the GCC, the prices of tobacco, transportation, and hotels and restaurants increased by 10.2%, 9.1%, and 6.5%, respectively, in October.

Month-on-month, the GCC’s CPI declined 0.2% in October, the report found.
