Mubasher: Crown Prince of Bahrain, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, said Tuesday that the GCC common currency “Khaleeji” is inevitable, but it faces some challenges.
“We are facing some challenges like establishing a common central bank, but the idea still exists,” Al Khalifa added.
On the sidelines of FIKR15 conference in Abu Dhabi, Al Khalifa pointed that the GCC countries are currently discussing the issuance of a common visa for their citizens.
The kingdom’s First Deputy Prime Minister noted that the two-way trade volume between the GCC countries rose from $15 billion to $115 billion in 15 years.
Al Khalifa also revealed that the GCC members are planning to set up a joint railway within 10 years.
