GCC’s annual inflation levels up 3.7% in December

Mubasher: The GCC’s inflation rose 3.7% in December 2018, compared to the year-ago period.

The prices of tobacco surged 10.3% year-on-year in December, while the prices of transportation and house & hotels rose 6.2% and 6%, respectively, during the same month, versus 2017’s figures, according to GCC-Stat.

At the last month of 2018, the prices of food & beverages, health, and education increased by 3.8%, 2.8%, and 2% year-on-year, respectively.

Month-on-month, the GCC inflation declined 0.2% last December, the GCC-Stat’s data showed.

Saudi Arabia and UAE led the region’s inflation, contributing 2.4% and 1% to the GCC’s total inflation.
