Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity concluded an agreement worth $250 million with GE Grid Solutions.
The agreement, which is made during French president François Hollande’s visit to Egypt, aims to provide GE’s advanced gas-insulated switchgear technology with four substations, which will connect 7 GW to the national grid and satisfy the needs of more 6.5 million houses all over Egypt.
French technology will make up 50% of the manufactured and assembled components of the projects, including the French-made GIS technology.
The project’s first phase includes the substation of Mostathmereen that will be connected to the national grid within six months, while the other three ones will be accomplished by the end of 2017.
