German economic growth accelerates in 2015

Mubasher: Germany’s actual gross domestic product grew by 1.7% in 2015, beating estimates of 1.6% and against 1.5% in the 2014, signaling robust economy, showed data issued Thursday by the Federal Statistics Office.

The local economy was boosted by strong labour market, coupled with the quantitative easing policy that increased domestic demand.

The data also showed that the German government registered a fiscal surplus of 0.5% of GDP in 2015.

Exports grew 5.4%, faster than the previous year's 4%. However, they were outpaced by imports, whose growth accelerated to 5.7% from 3.7%.
