Cairo – Mubasher: Germany’s exports to Egypt increased by 34% to EUR 4.4 billion in 2016, compared to EUR 3.3 billion in 2015, the executive director of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GACIC), Andreas Hergenröther, said Thursday.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s exports to Germany declined in 2016 by 35% to EUR 1.1 billion, versus EUR 1.7 billion in 2015.
Machines and equipment were the top exports from Germany to Egypt with a value of EUR 2.6 billion, followed by chemicals (EUR 515 million).
On the other hand, metals topped the Egyptian exports to Germany with a total value of EUR 617 million, followed by food (EUR 186 million) and textiles (EUR 156 million).
Hergenröther expected a growth in the trade relations between the two countries, due to a year-on-year increase of 107% in Germany’s exports to Egypt to EUR 527 million in the period between January and February 2017.
