Germany lifts ban on flights to South Sinai

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated Tuesday that Germany lifted the last ban on direct flights from Germany to Sharm El-Sheikh and other areas in South Sinai.

Earlier, airlines from all around the world decided to halt flights to the above areas due to a terrorist attack targeted a Russian plane in November, claiming the lives of 224 people.

Germany was ranked in 2016 as the first country importing tourists to Egypt with a total of 655,000 arrivals, the ministry indicated.

FX revenues from the tourism sector declined from $11 billion in 2010 to $3.4 billion in 2016, according to an earlier statement.
