Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Global Emirates Aluminium posted a 10% year-on-year rise in its profits to reach AED 2.1 billion ($572 million) in 2016 despite lower revenues, according to a press release.
"This is a result of our focus on cost management, operational efficiencies, continuous improvement of our technology, and responsiveness," the company’s CEO Abdulla Kalban said.
Revenues fell 9% to AED 17.1 billion in 2016 due to a decline in aluminium prices.
EGA’s aluminium production reached 2.5 million tonnes of hot metal in 2016, compared to 2.4 million tonnes in 2015
