Gold rises in January, records best monthly performance in 2015

Mubasher: Gold prices rose on Friday, shrugging off dollar rise. They moved 0.18% higher to $1117.60 per ounce.

Accordingly, gold increased by 1.3% this week, continuing its growth for the fourth straight week. The precious commodity jumped 5.5% in January, recording the best monthly performance in 2015.

Silver also rose by 0.20% to $14.260 per ounce.

Dollar advanced against most global currencies, recouping the losses it incurred over the last sessions.
